Duties of the Board of Directors
MSHP Bylaws, Chapter III, Article VIII
The Board of Directors shall have charge of the property of the Society l authority to control and manage the affairs and funds of the Society; authority to make ultimate decisions regarding the acts of Committees and officers or professional matters as well as administrative, fiscal, and other matters when the general membership is not in session; authority to accept, on behalf of the Society, grants, contributions, gifts, bequests or devises to further the purpose of the Society; authority to do and perform all acts and functions not inconsistent with these Bylaws or with any action taken by the membership, and shall report actions taken on major policy matters to the next meeting of the general membership.
Meetings and Responsibilities
The MSHP Board of Directors Meets once per month for 1.5 hours. Meetings of the Society may be hosted online, via Zoom, or in-person. Board members assume additional responsibility, such as attendance at educational and networking programs, committee meetings, and other projects as assigned.
Positions for Election
- President-elect: The President-elect serves a 3 year term. This person serves 1 year as President-elect, 1 year as President, and 1 year as Past President. They are responsible for filling in as chair in the event that the President is unavailable. They also serve as the Chair of the Nominating and Awards Committee.
- Secretary: The Secretary serves a 1 year term. The Secretary is responsible for recording and maintaining the minutes and records of the Society.
- Treasurer: The Treasurer serves a 1 year term. The Treasurer is responsible for prepare and distribute a monthly current Society financial report to each board member and committee chair at the Board and Committee Chair meetings.
- Director (2 Seats, 1 of which is Technician): The Directors serve 3 year terms. They are responsible for serving as liaisons to the MSHP committees. They are required to attend board meetings and generally responsible for making decisions, along with the officers, about the actions and activities of the Society.
Installment
All officers and directors will be installed at the Spring Seminar on April 19, 2024. They will participate in MSHP’s Strategic Planning session in June and will take office officially on July 1, 2024.
